Tuggeranong AUSSI Newsletter - October 2005

Hi all,

A quick reminder of what's coming up:

The club carnival, the Tuggeranong Challenge, will be held on 12 November (click here for details).

This is the clubs own event, it is very low key and based largely on a handicap formula. It has been a really enjoyable afternoon over the last few years and it would be great to see all members participate. A presentation will be held at the dinner after the meet and we traditionally have some excellent prizes to give away. Entry envelopes are on the board at the pool. We have had some trouble getting a dinner venue this year so details aren't on the flyer, however, after a lot of ringing around Annette has been able to secure a room at the Vikings Club at Chisholm. Exact menu details are not available but I am sure the food will be scrumptious and it is a great opportunity to socialise with other club members away from the pool.

NSW Short Course Long Distance Champs: The aerobics program has got a number of members chafing at the bit to do more long distance races, so some foolhardy souls are going up to Mt Annan (near Campbelltown) on November 20 for the NSW Championships. Entry envelopes are available at the pool if you wish to join them (us). Entries close with Jeanette, your new race secretary, on 21 October.

Christmas Party: The time and date of this years party will be discussed at the next club meeting to be held on 24 October, over the last few years we have held this event after the last Sunday night training session in December and as a BYO BBQ. For many years prior it was held on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon as a local park, but numbers gradually dropped off as people had other commitments in December and the Sunday night option proved more popular. However, there have been many changes in the club and we are keen to cater to all members, so if you have an idea of what you might like to do for the Christmas Party pls let one of the committee know before the meeting. The Xmas party also double a as the annual presentation night and the club has some five perpetual trophies we award each year.

Raffle Ticket Sales at Vikings Club: Yes it is our turn again on 21 October to sell raffle tickets at the Vikings Club, given Catherine's report on how much fun they had last time all those who wish to help out should get in quick and let Ann Reid know, there is likely to be a rush of volunteers!!!!. You can e-mail Ann or a roster is also available on the board for you to put your name on.

Masters Games - Adelaide: Oneeka and Brenda (along with Belinda and Peter our honorary members from the Wett Ones) have just finished competing at the Masters Games in Adelaide and Gillian and Bruce also went along to help officiate - I hope to have a report on how they all went soon.

National Swim: The flyer for the National Swim is attached. Its time to start thinking about what events you wish to go in ??
