Campbelltown IPS Carnival turned out to be a poorly contested carnival with only two brave souls from our ever-growing club making the epic journey up the Hume Highway.
We arrived in plenty of time and had no problems locating the pool, even with my lack of navigational skills. We ventured up to the Bradbury shops where we treated ourselves to some light refreshments, non alcoholic, of course. Back at the pool, securing a place to sit proved a challenge in itself, but eventually we settled in and prepared for the swims ahead of us. Peter performed extremely well with quite a few PBs, although I can't say the same for myself, the geriatric.
A very memorable moment occurred during one particular trip to the far end of the pool, due to pre race nerves. Not taking any notice to where I was going I happened to venture into the wrong changeroom. Noticing the unfamiliar male urinals I quickly realised I was in the men's, not the women's. Unfortunately on this particular occasion there was no talent to check out! Damn shame really. Panic set in quickly and I beat a hasty retreat to the safety of the women's changeroom.
The carnival progressed quickly and in no time we were on our way back up the Hume, arriving home at 7:30pm. The big question is "Just what did the get up to last year on the way home to arrive home at 10pm?" We have to wonder.
