Surf Clinic - April 2002
What a weekend! Nine members attended the first session on Saturday
and most of them managed to stand up at least once on a board. Unfortunately, Laura and Liz suffered some bruising
injuries that kept them away from the Sunday session, but nothing long-lasting.
After a couple of hours in the water, we all adjourned to The Quarterdeck
in Narooma for a seafood luncheon.
People followed their own plans in the afternoon: for some it was down
to the beach in Bermagui and a gentle swim or a go at fishing off the point at the entrance. The evening was spent at O’Brien’s Hotel for
a meal and ??? (deleted
at request of members!) Those who attended
the activities deleted above were grateful for the cloudy skies on Sunday
morning, thus diminishing the glare. ‘ Sunnies’
were much in evidence among the surfers and one or two got out early, or even
decided to take the morning off! Those
who persevered were rewarded by gaining greater mastery over the art of standing
up on a surfboard. Matt, our tutor,
was most impressed with the progress and looks forward to being able to run
another session with our members. All
present are very keen to return, so look for information on another clinic
later in the year.
